# What is Shores?

> Earn yield from loans backed by real property.

Shores tokenizes real property lending. Property owners in Thailand, South Florida and Costa Rica take short-term bridge loans secured by first liens on real property and pay 12–14% interest. Depositors hold **shUSD**, a vault token built on Robinhood Chain. When they stake it, they receive the net interest as a monthly cash yield, with an 8% target.

The loans are made offchain, the way real property lending has always worked: local loan documents, registered liens and active servicing. Shores brings the deposit, the vault accounting and the yield onchain.

Real property credit is far larger offchain and is only beginning to move onchain.
